Our Philosophy on Manual Medicine

Absolute Health and Wellness is a chiropractic and rehabilitation wellness center based around the ideologies of regular participation in physical activity and maintenance of proper biomechanics.  We provide a non-invasive and nurturing environment where patients can come to receive the integrated health care they need in order to help themselves reach their full potential - in preventing the progression of sickness and disease. Through our philosophy of “Keep It Moving”, we focus on providing a truly holistic healing environment for the human body, thus limiting dysfunction and disease through self-motivation.

Dr. Alex Sandrow - Chiropractic Physician
close

With over 20 years of experience working as a fitness consultant - specializing in clinical exercise and rehabilitation, My emphasis is based on restoration of proper biomechanics and function.  My background in medicine really began with the intent of becoming an orthopedic surgeon.  With great thanks to many surgeons along my path, I was fortunate enough to be given several opportunities to observe/study under them - totaling over 8000 hours of surgical operations.  I believe that despite not going into orthopedics, these early days have absolutely offered the greatest of foundations of which I continue to build on.

My belief in the restoration of functional movement is quite simple.  First teach a body to move well, then teach that body to move often.  The premis of my practice is based on movement assessment, which I employee with every patient that walks into the clinic.  In this approach to assessing, diagnosing and managing patient care - the problem is identifited and the symptoms are treated.  My observations as such have lead me to understand clearly that all too commonly - what the patient is comming in with is as the problem, is rather only a symptom of a problem.  In my daily practice of manual medicine and chiropractic care, I utilize such techniques as selective functional movement assessment, functional movement screening, diversified manual manipulation, Active Release Techniques, stability and motor control learning, Low Level Laser Therapy (Cold Laser), Graston instrument assisted soft-tissue technique and kinesiological taping.

I believe in truly treating the body with a holistic approach to health care.  The corner-stone of my beliefs are heavily based around the inclusion of regular physical activity, the maintenance of proper systems performance within one’s body, and a healthy mental state associated with the patient’s well being.

In my past time, you can find me and my family taking part in outdoor activity on a regular basis.  Unarguably, next to my family - my passion is all things with two wheels that could be considered a bike, with a heavy preference to those things that are mountain bikes.  In the winter you can find me on Mt. Hood telemark skiing, snowshoeing, or XC skiing. Prior to medicine I spent the earliest part of my life as an artist, and to this day I still study the arts of photography and music.
